Surprise! I'm still alive! I don't update this journal nearly as often as I should. It mostly just boils down to me being lazy. But the good news is, because I've waited so long for this, I actually have a lot of stuff to talk about.
First thing, me and my boyfriend just moved into our very own apartment (yay!) that is much closer to work, so I don't have an hour and a half commute anymore, which is awwesomme! Go us! We don't have internet set up yet, so the only internet time I have is while I'm at work, but once it's set up, I'm considering doing some Livestream broadcasts of me doing my artwork. If I did something like that, would anybody watch it? Let me know!
Next thing... I should have brought this up ages and ages ago, but I forgot... Remember the book cover I did for my buddy Suzanne for her very first published novel ever? No? Here's a reminder...
Well, that book is finished and published and available for purchase so you can have one of your very own! Not only does it have my super pretty artwork on the cover, but the book itself is fantastic. The main character is strong and likable, the magic of the world is unique and interesting, and I love the different twist on a classic fairy tale story. I highly recommend picking it up:
www.amazon.com/Autobiography-E…Next next thing, me and
TamsTheGenkiQueen have been working on a secret project for a while now, and I sort of accidentally announced it on Facebook before we agreed to... In my defense, Tams had finally finished her next part of it and it was really pretty and I got all excited and junk, and sort of forgot that we had agreed to wait... But anyway. We're working on an online comic called Shot From the Hip, which is a spontaneously collaborative comic. What does that mean? It means that we're each taking a turn drawing a page of this comic, but there's no script, and we're not telling each other what's going to happen next. So you end up with a campfire story style comic, where one person tells one part of the story, then the next person picks it up from there, and so on. So far it's really cool and really fun, and if Tams can get her pages turned out faster (hint hint, poke poke) then I can see this being a pretty successful experimental comic:
shotfromthehip.thecomicseries.…And I think the final thing for right now is I just went to an art festival over the weekend, and I have a bunch of extra prints left over from the event. So if you've ever wanted a copy of one of my pictures, I do have some available. They're $5 for the little 5x7" ones, and $10 for 8.5x11", no shipping charges for you whatsoever. So if you're interested, drop me a devNote or email me at ninja.shira@gmail.com any time. Here are the prints I currently have available:
$10 - 8.5 x 11" Prints
$5 - 5 x 7" Prints
I only have so many of each of these, so it's first come first serve. If you want one, let me know soon so you can ensure you get one.
And in closing, if any of y'all read Fluffernutters, my autobiographical comic strip, I promise I fully intend on working on it again in the future. I'm just trying to figure out how to work the time to do it into my schedule. Hopefully now that I live closer to work and spend less time commuting, I'll have some time to draw the strip at home. Crossing my fingers that I can get some new strips done soon! In the meantime, feel free to read through the archives. There isn't a whole lot there, but it's still stinking cute if you ask me:
